KH-Vids.net is a wonderful comprehensive website for fans of the Kingdom Hearts series. It gives exactly what it promises-all the videos you could want of Kingdom Hearts cutscenes and gameplay-and much more. The website’s front page is often updated with news about the series by its wonderful reporter, Mike. It also has a really great community for discussing Kingdom Hearts and generally having fun. There’s also a great base of AMV-makers, who are encouraged by the website’s “Top 5″ system. KHV is also very well moderated, the staff is active nearly all the time and foul play is taken care of almost immediately when it happens.
For a few months, I had been using kh-vids just for clips of KH so I could create videos. About two weeks ago I realized that there was also a forum part to the site, and I figured I’d join. At first, I felt like the new kid at school because everyone already knew each other and I was just..new. But I soon began talking to some of the other members and it’s just..wow, they’re so amazing. I felt like I fit in incredibly fast, which was a good thing. So one good thing about this website is the members – they don’t turn people away just because they’re new. They accept people. Another amazing thing about this site is the forum (I’m really not just saying that to make this site seem amazing [even though it is], I’m being honest when I say that this is one of the best forums I’ve ever been on). There are sections where you can talk just about KH, and then there are sections where you can post things you created to get feedback on them. The members are also honest about the feedback. There’s also a roleplaying part to the forum, and there are some rather interesting rpgs that people have come up with. And then – the best part of the entire forum – is the spam zone. When you first get there, you may feel intimidated, because I definitely felt intimidated when I first went there, but you get used to it. In two weeks, the spam zone has become my favorite place to hang out on the forum. Okay, so the point of this long review is that KH-Vids is actually really good. The forums are usually always active, so if you become addicted to this site, you’ll probably always have someone you can talk to. I really, really like this website and I think it’d be amazing if more people that enjoy Kingdom Hearts as much as the people on this site do would come there.
I absolutely LOVE this site. Its the first with kingdom hearts news, kingdom hearts media, and kingdom hearts merchandise.
Very good site, well organized. Updates constantly, both news directly related to the games and products available at places like HotTopic. Staff are friendly and get things done, some of the members are not as friendly but overall there is a good atmosphere and a huge amount of topics that can be posted about, from KH discsussion to asking for help with some kind of tehcnology issue.
KH-vids.net has got to be one of the most comprehensive in terms of Kingdom Hearts media. Not only do they offer an extensive database of all the videos extracted in high quality from the game, they also provide an up to date audio archive.
One of their perks is that they’ve got a user portal, where members can upload video, and also a top 5 contest, where the best videos are showcased. The Code vault has a huge amount of codes that are hard to find anywhere else( Wanna play as Riku in KH2? Wanna play as sepiroth? Yeah they have it!)
While the forums are somewhat lacking in activity sometimes, the majority of the members are more than willing to lend a helping hand. Wether you like Graphics, Codes, Videos or just hitting it up with spam, KHV is the place to find these things and more. Definately, give it a shot!
Kh-vids.net is a decent site when you’re looking for Kingdom Hearts news. The news aren’t always related to the games directly. Sometimes it has to do with the series itself (i.e., getting voted on a Top Video Games of the Year, or awards, etc.) or with the development team (interviews with the creator), or just merchandise. One of the downsides is that the site usually doesn’t get the information themselves. While members of the community do share news and it gets added to the front page, most of the time the source seems to be from another Kingdom Hearts site, KhInsider.
However, from my experience, Kh-vids information, regardless of method of obtainment, is generally up to date. For Kingdom Hearts news, I strongly recommend this site.
The forum community itself, on the other hand, is a different story. The two best parts about the forum are 1. it has a decent library of Kingdom Hearts media including videos of gameplay and cutscenes and even audio from the game, and 2. The forum has many sections ranging from Kingdom Hearts to video games in general to different interests (Discussion, graphics, movies, role playing, etc.)
But the members themselves? The members who have been there longer look down upon the newer members, especially those who aren’t as…internet savvy as they are (see: noobs). Since most of the moderators did not start as moderators, but regular members, they favorite their friends when moderating (friends don’t get infractions or bans but someone else will for doing the exact same thing). Two of the Super-moderators are in a relationship and have a habit of ganging up on other people; not just rulebreakers, but anyone who disagrees with either one of them. One of the administrators is rarely seen anymore. The owner of the site has also disappeared after buying the site, except for recently showing up to upgrade the forum version. The staff have tried to contact him many times, but he will not answer back.
For Kingdom Hearts media and information: it’s a top class site.
